Blood Pressure (HYPERTENSION AND HYPOTENSION)

BLOOD PRESSURE
What is blood pressure?
Blood pressure (B.P) = Systolic presure/ Diastolic pressure
Systolic presure = Presssure of the blood when the heart beats
Diastolic pressure = Pressure of the blood when the heart rests.
Blood pressure is the force of your blood pushing against the walls of your arteries.
i.e, Each time your heart beats, it pumps blood into the arteries. Your blood pressure is highest when your heart beats, "pumping the blood".

HYPERTENSION AND HYPOTENSION

> HOW TO DETECT HYPERTENSION (HIHG BLOOD PRESSURE)
One of the features of hihg blood pressure {HBP} is that it can be a very sillent killer. You may never know that it is there. The only way to detect it is by always checking what your blood pressure reads. It is equally expedient for you to determine whether you have a heart diseases. Heart diseases most times results from hypertension. When reading the blood pressure, you may have to do two things i.e check the blood pressure when the heart beats and then the heart rests. The blood pressure is read as the systolic pressure.

> HYPERTENSION TEST
The test to determine if one has HBP is carried out with a sphygmomanometer. The instrument comparises a cuff that is wrapped around the arm and then inflated while the attached quage is then used to mesure the pressure.
The result of HBP test is reported in the following manner
 * Normal BP is when the blood pressure is less than 120/80mmHg
 * Pre-hypertension is when the blood pressure is between 120-139/80-89mmHG.
 * HBP (stage 1) is when the blood pressure is between 140-149/90-99mmHg.
 * HBP (stage 2) is when the blood presure is above 160/100

  > SYMPTOMS OF HYPERTESSION
 1. Severe headaches.
 2. Nosebleed.
 3. Fatigue or confusion.
 4. Vision problems.
 5. Chest pain.
 6. Difficulty breathing.
 7. Irregular heartbeat.
 8. Blood in the urine.
 9. Sleeplessness, e.t.c

CAUSES OF HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE (HYPERTENSION)
 1. Smoking.
 2. Being overweight or obese.
 3. Lack of physical activity (exercise).
 4. Too much salt in the diet.
 5. Too much alcohol consumption (more than 1 to 2 drinks per day)
 6. Stress.
 7. Older age.
 8. Genetics, e.t.c

DIETARY APPROACH TO STOP HYPERTENSION
  1. fruits
  2. vegetables
  3. Whole grains
  4. Poultry, fish
  5. low-fat dairy foods.
  6. Get plenty of potassium, which can help prevent and control high blood pressure.
  7. Eat less saturated fat and trans fat.
  8. Decrease the salt in your diet.

 > HOW TO DETECT HYPOTENSION (LOW BLOOD PRESSURE)
Low blood pressure, for many people may cause fainting. In severe cases, it can be life-threatening.

> HYPOTENSION TEST
A blood pressure reading lower than 90 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) for the top number (systolic) or 60 mm Hg for the bottom number (diastolic) is generally considered low blood pressure.

SYMPTOMS OF HYPOTENSION
 1. Lightheadedness or dizziness.
 2. Feeling sick.
 3. Blurred vision.
 4. Generally feeling weak.
 5. Confusion.
 6. Fainting, e.t.c

>  CAUSES OF LOW BLOOD PRESSURE (HYPOTENSION)
 1.  Pregnancy.
 2.  Dehydration (which can be due to sweating, not drinking enough, vomiting, or diarrhea)
 3.  Older age.
 4.  Heart conditions.
 5.  Anemia.
 6.  Severe infections.
 7.  Thyroid disorders.
 8.  Low blood sugar and diabetes.
 9.  Loss of blood from bleeding.
 10. Low body temperature.
 11. High body temperature.
 12. A reaction to medication or alcohol.

 > DIETARY APPROACH TO STOP HYPOTENSION
 1. Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can sometimes lead to low blood pressure. ...
 2. Eat a balanced diet.
 3. Eat smaller meals.
 4. Limit or avoid alcohol.
 5. Eat more salt.
 6. Check your blood sugar.

> FOOD AND HEALTH
A healthy diet contribute to a healthy lifestyle (sickness free). Most food today are unhealthy and are contaminated right from the agricultural process (chemical fertilizer), the mode of preservation also contribute (chemicals and infected produces) and lastly the cooking process.

> WHY SUPPLIMENTS
Supplements helping to bridge the gap between your usual dietary intake and nutrient needs. Supplements, especially vitamin and minerals can be useful in situations when the demand for nutrients is higher.
Therefore; every one in the world today we need to suppliment our diet because of the above factors mentioned.
SUPPLIMENTS are highly effective and it is the most recommended for BP patients.
