Female Genital mutilation

*Female* *Genital* *mutilation* 

Which is called female circumcision in a lay man understanding. 

 *Definition* 
This is referred to as removal of highly sensitive genital tissues, especially the Clitoris. This may affect sexual desires or sensitivity of a woman which sometimes generate some problems like 

1.Decreased in sexual desires 

2.Decreased in sexual pleasure 

3.pains during sexual intercourse 

4.Difficulty in dick penetration.

This is a major problem in some part of Africa today as W.H.O(World Health Organization) Does not support this practices simply because the disadvantage is higher than the advantage. 

 *Cultural* *Beliefs* 

Some culture sees it as a means of reducing girl child or women from being promiscuous. As said by our sister *splendour* 

This is wrong.

In some *countries* *states* or *communities* 

Female genital mutilation is relatively common, due to the fact that it helps in decreasing sexual ough among female. 

There are few Benefits of this practices which made the old people (our parents) 

engage in this kind of practice. 

1.Its belived that it lowers the risk of breast Cancer. 

2 Fewer infections from microbes gathering under the hood of the Clitoris. 

3.Decreased sexual feelings

There are more disadvantages of female genital mutilation. 

These include........... 

1.Sever pain during the circumcision 

2.Excessive bleeding 

3.Genital tissue swelling 

4.Fever

5.Infections.

6.Urinary problems 

7.Wound healing delay 

8.Shock

9. Death

There are other later in life *Disadvantages* as the *child* *grows* *older*

1.Sever Bleeding during childbirth. 

2.Urinary Track infection 

3.Cyst infection which are common among women *trying* to *conceive* . 

4.Complications During child birth. 

5.Increase risk of new born death. 

And lots more

We must also note that it varies from Religion,Beliefs and Culture. 

Some culture practice that when their daughter is grown and is ripe for marriage 

While others practice it when the child is tender between the ages of 0-10
