Gmail's Gemini Now Auto-Summarizes Emails by Default for Faster Reading
Google's Gemini is taking productivity up a notch by automatically summarizing your emails in Gmail—by default. This AI-powered feature rolls out summaries at the top of email threads, especially for longer conversations or those with multiple replies.
Previously, users had to tap “Summarize this email” to see a condensed version. Now, Gemini does it automatically, synthesizing key points and updating summaries as new replies come in.
Currently, the feature supports only English-language emails and is being rolled out gradually over the next 15 days. If an email isn't deemed suitable for auto-summarization, users can still trigger a manual summary with the familiar “Summarize this email” button.
However, access is limited for now to Google Workspace users, Google One AI Premium subscribers, and those with Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium plans.
