Ford Super Mustang Mach-E Unleashed: 1,421 HP EV Beast Aims for Pikes Peak Glory
Ford is charging back to the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with an electrifying new contender — the Ford Super Mustang Mach-E. This all-electric race car, built from the ground up, is purpose-built for the 12.42-mile “Race to the Clouds” and boasts some mind-blowing specs that could shake up the leaderboard.
With three electric motors delivering a combined 1,421 horsepower, it surpasses last year’s victorious SuperTruck. Engineers have trimmed 113 kg from the chassis, giving it a sharper edge for the climb's 156 demanding turns.
Despite a relatively modest 50 kWh battery, the Mach-E sends 700 volts of juice to its six-phase motors. Regenerative braking has also been upgraded, capturing up to 710 kW of energy — a notable bump from the 600 kW harvested by last year's entry.
What truly sets this machine apart is its aerodynamic wizardry. Wrapped in carbon fiber, the body produces a jaw-dropping 3,130 kg of downforce at 241 km/h, and up to 5,443 kg at 322 km/h. That’s more than twice the vehicle’s weight pressing it into the tarmac.
Racing legend Romain Dumas, who holds the Pikes Peak record and won last year in the SuperTruck, will once again take the wheel. “This Mach-E is a different beast,” says Dumas. “We’re pushing the limits again, and that’s what the mountain is all about.”
The race takes place on June 22, and with EVs increasingly dominating the podium, all eyes will be on this electric juggernaut.
