Huawei Pura 80 Series Teased with Powerful Zoom & XMAGE Imaging Ahead of Launch in China

Huawei is building hype for its upcoming Pura 80 series, set to launch in China next week. The brand has released two new teaser videos that spotlight the series’ photography upgrades, with a strong emphasis on periscope zoom and its signature XMAGE imaging technology.
The first video takes viewers on a nostalgic journey, showcasing iconic Huawei flagships—from the Huawei P9 to the latest Mate and P series—highlighting the company’s legacy in mobile photography. The video ends with a sneak peek of the Pura 80, teasing big advancements in camera tech.

The second teaser zooms in—literally—on one of the Pura 80 models. It demonstrates the device's multi-focal lengths, including 2x (48mm) and 3.7x (89mm), likely referring to optical zoom capabilities. It also flashes 10x (240mm) and 20x zoom, which are believed to be hybrid zoom levels using computational photography enhancements.

According to recent leaks, the Huawei Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Ultra will feature:

A 1-inch variable aperture main sensor with an RYYB color filter

A 1/1.3-inch 50MP periscope telephoto lens

A 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera

These specs suggest that Huawei is once again aiming to lead the smartphone photography race with powerful hardware and in-house image processing.

Stay tuned for the official launch next week!
