Huawei Unveils HarmonyOS 6 with AI-Powered XiaoYi Assistant and Touch & Share Feature

Huawei officially launched HarmonyOS 6 today at its annual Developer Conference, with Executive Director Richard Yu leading the presentation. The new update brings UI enhancements and performance upgrades, but the standout feature is the introduction of the Intelligent Agent Framework—designed to enable more natural, human-like interactions through the new personal assistant, XiaoYi.
Unlike traditional voice assistants, XiaoYi can intuitively understand user intent and interact beyond basic prompts. Huawei also demonstrated how the assistant can scan your entire screen, offering functionality similar to Google’s Circle to Search. From automating Excel tasks with ChatExcel to assisting in app development for HarmonyOS, XiaoYi showcases deep integration with the new AI framework.
Another notable feature is Touch and Share, which lets users transfer files or even connect to multiplayer games by simply tapping their smartphone on an eligible PC's screen. While device compatibility hasn't been fully disclosed, it's expected to be limited to Huawei hardware.

The HarmonyOS 6 Developer Beta Program is now open, running until June 30. Developers must verify their accounts via Huawei's Developer Alliance to participate. Supported devices include:

Huawei Mate 70 / 70 Pro

Huawei Mate 60 / 60 Pro

Huawei Mate X5

Huawei MatePad Pro 11" (2024)

Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2" (2025)

Stay tuned for more updates as HarmonyOS 6 rolls out to the public.
