Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept Debuts with 1,341HP, Blazing Fast Charging, and Radical EV Design
Mercedes-AMG, long celebrated for its roaring V8 engines, is entering the EV era with a bang. The company has unveiled the Concept AMG GT XX, a bold four-door electric coupe previewing the next-generation AMG GT 4-Door.
This is no mild-mannered hybrid. The GT XX features a tri-motor electric powertrain delivering a jaw-dropping 1,341 horsepower (1,000 kW), propelling it into the league of the fastest EVs ever made. It’s built on the all-new AMG.EA (Electric Architecture) platform, developed specifically for Mercedes-AMG’s electric performance cars.
Design & Aerodynamics
The GT XX sports a low-slung, coupe-like silhouette with a futuristic twist. Highlights include:
A wide grille integrated with auxiliary lights
Stacked LED headlights
Sculpted hood with prominent air outlets
Flush door handles and 21-inch active aero wheels
Drag coefficient of just 0.198
No rear window, inspired by the Polestar 4
Side sills with glow-in-the-dark luminescent paint
At the rear, six circular LED taillights and an active airbrake are complemented by a unique MBUX Fluid Light Panel, capable of displaying external messages via 700+ LEDs.
Interior & Tech
Inside, the GT XX features a minimalist, race-inspired cockpit with:
10.25" digital instrument cluster
14" central infotainment screen
AMG ONE-style steering wheel
Lightweight carbon-fiber seats
Powertrain & Battery Innovation
The GT XX uses three axial flux motors—one front, two rear—developed with British firm Yasa (now part of Mercedes-Benz). This layout supports a fully variable AWD system with supercar-tier performance and a top speed exceeding 360 km/h.
The new NCMA battery chemistry, combined with a silicon-rich anode, delivers 300 Wh/kg energy density. Cooling is revolutionary, with coolant flowing around each cylindrical cell individually.
Charging Breakthrough
The GT XX’s 800V architecture enables ultra-fast charging, adding up to 400 km of range in just five minutes—thanks to the ability to handle over 850 kW of charging power. To prepare for this, Mercedes is working with Alpitronic to upgrade its Charging Network with next-gen ultra-fast chargers.
The Mercedes-AMG GT XX isn't just a concept—it's a powerful, electrified vision of what performance will look like in the future.
