Tesla Pauses Cybertruck and Model Y Production for Upgrades Amid Sales Struggles
Tesla is once again hitting pause on production of the Cybertruck and Model Y, but this time it’s not due to sluggish sales. According to an internal email, Tesla will halt manufacturing at the end of Q2 — specifically on June 30 — for a one-week maintenance and production line upgrade.
While the news briefly rattled the stock market, industry experts confirm this is standard practice in the auto sector, often timed to prep for new configurations and models. Tesla is expected to introduce a refreshed Model Y, potentially with a six-seat layout, which could help reinvigorate demand.
That said, concerns about Tesla’s short-term performance persist. Analysts warn that Tesla would need to boost deliveries by over 50% in June to meet its Q2 targets. Additionally, the company is forecasted to bring in $1.9 billion less in cash flow this year — a troubling figure for investors.
