Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Smashes Nürburgring Record, Becomes Fastest Production EV Ever

Xiaomi has officially claimed the crown in the electric vehicle world. The tech giant’s flagship EV, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, has shattered expectations by setting a new production electric car lap record at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Clocking in at 7 minutes and 4.957 seconds, the production SU7 Ultra stormed through the 20.8-kilometer “Green Hell,” outpacing hypercars that cost nearly 30 times more. This makes the SU7 Ultra the fastest production electric car ever to lap the Nürburgring, surpassing icons like the Rimac Nevera, Tesla Model S Plaid, and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.
Priced at just €67,600, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is rewriting the rules for performance EVs. With a blistering 0-100 km/h time of 1.98 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h, it’s powered by Xiaomi’s own Super Motor V8s—custom-developed motors spinning at 27,200 RPM and producing a staggering 1,548 horsepower.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun emphasized that this is only the beginning, as the company plans to continue challenging legacy automakers at the Nürburgring and beyond. This record isn't an isolated achievement—the SU7 Ultra has also dominated circuits across China, claiming fastest four-door production car titles at Zhuzhou, Zhuhai, Chengdu, and Zhejiang tracks.
The momentum continues in the digital world as well. On June 8, Xiaomi announced a collaboration with Polyphony Digital, the studio behind Gran Turismo. The SU7 Ultra will be featured in Gran Turismo 7, giving gamers a chance to experience its breathtaking speed. The partnership will also introduce a concept EV: the Xiaomi Vision GT.

With performance, price, and presence on its side, Xiaomi has launched itself into the EV spotlight—and it looks like it's here to stay.
