XPeng G7 Debuts as World’s First “AI Car” with AR-HUD and Turing Chip – Takes Aim at Tesla Model Y

Chinese EV maker XPeng has unveiled its latest mid-size electric SUV, the G7, which it boldly labels as the world’s first “AI Car.” More than just another electric vehicle, the G7 combines smart technology, family-focused design, and cutting-edge augmented reality features to take on big names like Tesla.
Designed for Families, Built with Tech

Unlike many sleek, coupe-style EVs, the XPeng G7 opts for a boxier, traditional SUV profile—a deliberate choice to maximize interior space and backseat comfort. With dimensions of 4,892 mm (length), 1,925 mm (width), and 1,655 mm (height), this EV offers a roomy cabin that seats five, complete with a panoramic sunroof and privacy glass for added comfort.

The exterior features hidden door handles, black cladding, and a sporty rear spoiler, mixing practicality with futuristic flair.
Welcome to the AR Era: Chasing Light Panorama AR-HUD

Inside, the G7 breaks convention by eliminating the instrument cluster, replacing it with a massive 87-inch AR-HUD developed in partnership with Huawei. Called the Chasing Light Panorama AR-HUD, this next-gen display overlays navigation cues, safety warnings, and even real-time lane guidance directly onto the windshield, blending virtual visuals with the real world.

XPeng claims the AR display enhances safety and minimizes driver distraction, even in challenging lighting conditions.
Turing AI Chip: The Brain Behind the G7

Powering all this innovation is XPeng’s self-developed Turing AI chip, which gives the G7 L3-level computing power—paving the way for future autonomous driving and advanced in-car intelligence.

The chip handles both driver-assistance systems and smart cockpit functions, solidifying XPeng’s position as a serious tech contender in the EV race.
Performance & Pricing

The G7 uses a single 218 kW (292 hp) electric motor, the same as its sibling, the XPeng G6. It’s paired with a durable LFP battery pack from CALB, emphasizing long-term reliability and safety. While the official range isn’t confirmed, XPeng hints that low energy consumption will be one of its strengths.
With a starting price of RMB 250,000 (around €32,400), the G7 is positioned as an affordable, high-tech challenger in the mid-size SUV market. Presales begin June 11, with deliveries expected in Q3 2025.

XPeng’s bet on AI, AR, and a family-first approach could shake up the EV landscape.
