Apple Foldable iPhone: Samsung to Supply Crease-Free OLED Display, Launch Expected in 2026
The long-rumored Apple foldable iPhone is moving closer to reality. According to a new report from ET News, Samsung Display has started building a dedicated production line for foldable OLED panels at its A3 plant in Asan, South Korea—specifically for Apple's first foldable device.
Apple’s Foldable iPhone: What We Know So Far
Prototype testing is already underway, with a tentative launch window set for September 2026.
Samsung will reportedly be Apple’s exclusive display supplier, chosen thanks to its advanced nearly crease-less foldable OLED technology.
The main display will measure 7.8 inches, while the cover screen will be 5.5 inches.
Samsung's Display Production Plans
Samsung is preparing serious capacity:
Up to 35,000 foldable displays/month
Potential for 15 million units/year
Apple is expected to sell between 6–8 million foldable iPhones in the first year.
Foldable iPhone Key Features (Rumored)
5.5-inch cover screen
Under-display front camera
Side-mounted Touch ID
Ultra-thin body (~9mm when folded)
Liquid metal hinge for durability
Expected price: $2,100 – $2,300
That price tag makes it even more expensive than the Galaxy Z Fold7, which launched at $1,999. But Apple is betting on premium materials, refined design, and a loyal user base to make its first foldable a success.
