BYD’s Ultra-Luxury Yangwang Brand Is Coming to Europe With a Floating SUV and Jumping Supercar

For decades, Europe has been home to the world’s most prestigious automotive brands—Bentley, Porsche, and Ferrari have set the benchmark for luxury and performance. But now, Chinese auto giant BYD is ready to shake up the ultra-luxury segment with its new high-end brand, Yangwang, and it’s bringing some jaw-dropping technology along for the ride.
The launch of Yangwang in Europe has been officially confirmed by BYD Vice President Stella Li. Following the 2025 rollout of Denza—BYD’s premium brand—Yangwang will enter the European market as the crown jewel of BYD’s lineup. Leading the charge is the Yangwang U8, a groundbreaking full-size luxury SUV unlike anything Europe has seen.
The Yangwang U8 is a range-extender SUV powered by a combination of a gasoline engine and four electric motors, delivering over 1,000 horsepower. This allows the U8 to sprint faster than a BMW M3, perform a full 360-degree tank turn, and even float on water for short periods. It's an SUV that challenges the laws of physics—and wins.
But BYD isn’t stopping there. Next up is the jaw-dropping Yangwang U9, a full-electric supercar designed to rival Ferrari and McLaren. With a top speed exceeding 386 km/h, the U9 features a revolutionary hydraulic suspension system that enables it to jump, drive on three wheels, or glide smoothly over potholes. This is high-tech automotive theater at its finest.

Soon to follow is the Yangwang U7, a luxury electric sedan targeting rivals like the Lotus Emeya. It’s powered by four electric motors delivering a combined 1,250 horsepower and 1,677 Nm of torque, allowing it to launch from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.
While the performance specs are nothing short of extraordinary, pricing will be the real test in Europe. In China, the U8 starts at approximately €129,700, and the U9 commands about €216,000. Prices are expected to be higher for Europe, raising the question: will European luxury buyers embrace an ultra-premium EV brand from China?

With world-first features like floating SUVs and jumping supercars, Yangwang is aiming to redefine what’s possible in the luxury automotive world. Europe, get ready—the future of high-end performance may be arriving from the East.
