Google Pixel Watch 4 Set for August 20 Launch with Brighter Display, Bigger Battery & Snapdragon W5+ Chipset
Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch 4 is generating buzz ahead of its official unveiling on August 20, and new leaks reveal significant upgrades in display brightness, battery life, and internal hardware.
The Pixel Watch 4 will come in two sizes — 41mm and 45mm, which are expected to feature 1.2-inch and 1.4-inch displays, respectively. One standout improvement is the ultra-bright 3,000-nit display, a 50% boost over its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 3. This brings it on par with the Samsung Galaxy Watch8 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, surpassing the 2,000 nits of the Apple Watch Series 10.
In terms of performance, the Watch 4 may be powered by the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset, not the standard W5 Gen 1 used in earlier Pixel Watch models. The W5+ comes with a low-power Cortex-M55 co-processor for always-on tasks like health tracking and voice processing, and it’s supported by an Ethos-U55 NPU for efficient machine learning operations. This marks a shift toward better battery and performance optimization, even if the core chipset is technically from the same generation.
Speaking of battery, both models will get a capacity boost:
41mm: 327mAh (up from 307mAh)
45mm: 459mAh (up from 420mAh)
This translates into 30–48 hours of battery life for the smaller model, and 40–72 hours for the larger one, depending on usage and power mode (Always-On Display vs. Battery Saver).
The Pixel Watch 4 will also support a new feature dubbed “side-charging,” which rotates the UI while the watch charges horizontally, making it double as a nightstand alarm clock.
However, these enhancements come with added thickness — 14.3mm, compared to the Watch 3's 12.3mm.
As for pricing, here’s what to expect in Europe:
41mm Wi-Fi: €400
41mm LTE: €500
45mm Wi-Fi: €450
45mm LTE: €550
Google will offer the Pixel Watch 4 in a range of stylish colors: Obsidian, Lemon, Moonstone, Iris, and Porcelain, along with a wide variety of watch bands to suit different tastes.
With its brighter display, more efficient chip, longer battery life, and practical new features, the Pixel Watch 4 is shaping up to be one of the most refined Wear OS smartwatches of 2025.
