Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Tipped to Feature Sony’s New 200MP Sensor for Major Camera Leap

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, expected to debut in January 2026, could be getting a huge camera upgrade, according to a fresh leak out of China. The report claims that Samsung may ditch its own ISOCELL HP2 sensor in favor of Sony’s upcoming 200MP 1/1.1-inch sensor.
This would mark Sony’s first 200MP mobile sensor, and its larger size compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 1/1.3-inch ISOCELL HP2 means it can capture more light, potentially resulting in significantly improved image quality — especially in low-light conditions.

To recap:

Galaxy S25 Ultra uses a 200MP ISOCELL HP2 (1/1.3")

Galaxy S26 Ultra might use Sony’s new 200MP 1/1.1" sensor

However, there’s a catch. The source behind the leak warns that Samsung may delay this sensor upgrade to the Galaxy S27 Ultra instead — so while the Galaxy S26 Ultra could debut with this next-gen hardware, it’s not guaranteed just yet.

Either way, Samsung seems committed to pushing the envelope in smartphone photography, and the S26 Ultra is shaping up to be one of 2026’s most exciting flagships.
Galaxy S25 Ultra Pricing (for reference):
