Sony Xperia 1 VII Sales Halted in Japan Due to Critical Software Issues
Sony has temporarily suspended shipments and sales of its latest flagship, the Xperia 1 VII, in Japan after numerous user reports of serious issues. Some Xperia 1 VII units are randomly rebooting, shutting down unexpectedly, or becoming completely unresponsive.
The Xperia 1 VII, which launched in May and retails at €1,499 for the 12GB RAM / 256GB 5G variant, has already been available for several weeks in Japan. But now, Sony is pulling back as it investigates the problems.
For devices that won’t power on, Sony recommends holding the power button and volume up for about 20 seconds to perform a hard reset. Users are also urged to install the latest software update, although the company admits the root cause of the issue is still under investigation. This suggests the update may be a temporary fix, not a complete solution.
If the issue persists, Sony advises customers to reach out to official support.
We'll continue monitoring the situation and provide updates as Sony shares more information.
