Army Arrests Three Women Suspected of Aiding ISWAP Operations in Borno

Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested three women suspected of collaborating with ISWAP terrorists during a security operation in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The development was disclosed by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, in a post on X. According to him, the arrests followed intelligence reports and intercepted communications suggesting that a woman was being moved to a terrorist-controlled enclave.

Acting on the information, troops of the 222 Battalion (Mechanised) launched an operation at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Konduga, where the three suspects were apprehended.

Military sources reportedly believe the women were involved in facilitating communication and movement between civilians and terrorist elements operating in the region. Their activities are said to have formed part of a broader support network assisting insurgent operations in the North-East.

The suspects are currently in military custody and are undergoing further investigation to determine the extent of their involvement and any possible links to other members of the terrorist network.

Security authorities noted that the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle support structures and disrupt channels that aid terrorist activities across the region.

Investigations remain ongoing as the military intensifies operations aimed at weakening insurgent networks and restoring lasting security in the North-East.
