DSS Witness Details Alleged Terror Links as Plateau Mass Killing Trial Continues

A witness from the Department of State Services (Department of State Services) has given testimony in the ongoing trial of suspects linked to the deadly Palm Sunday attack in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, where about 30 people were reportedly killed.
The testimony was delivered on Friday during an accelerated hearing before Justice Danladi Longden. The case involves Adamu Alhassan Isa, also known as Shagari Bangai, alongside four other defendants facing charges including criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, unlawful possession of firearms, and illegal arms trafficking.

The suspects are being prosecuted over their alleged involvement in the violent attack on Angwa Rukuba and other communities in Plateau State. The Plateau State Government had earlier filed charges against Isa and his co-defendants, while one of the accused remains at large.

According to the DSS operative, Isa allegedly admitted in a confessional statement to participating in multiple violent raids across Plateau State. The witness further told the court that the defendant claimed to have led more than 100 armed men in coordinated attacks on Vom and several villages in Riyom Local Government Area.

The court also heard claims that over ₦4 million, suspected to be linked to terrorism financing, was discovered in the defendant’s bank account following his arrest.

During cross-examination, defence counsel Mustapha Shaba requested certified true copies of statements made by both arresting and investigating officers, arguing the need to compare them with previously supplied photocopies.

The judge, Justice Danladi Longden, subsequently adjourned the case until July 3, directing the prosecution to provide the requested documents before proceedings continue.
