APC's Growing Popularity Will Deliver Enugu in 2027 – Ikeje Asogwa
The Senator-elect for Enugu North Senatorial District, Ikeje Asogwa, has expressed strong confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will dominate the 2027 general elections in Enugu State, following his receipt of the Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday.
Speaking shortly after receiving the certificate, Asogwa attributed the APC's growing popularity in Enugu to the visible impact of ongoing development projects being executed by the federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda and the state government led by Governor Peter Mbah.
Why APC Won in Enugu North By-Election
According to the senator-elect, the APC's victory in the recent election reflects the growing confidence of residents in the party's leadership and developmental initiatives.
"The reason the APC won is because of what is happening in our state right now. The transformation and development strides by our governor are tremendous and commendable," Asogwa stated.
He emphasized that residents can already see tangible projects being implemented across various sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, and education.
Tinubu Will Win Enugu in 2027, Says Asogwa
Asogwa further predicted that President Bola Tinubu would secure victory in Enugu State during the 2027 presidential election, citing the positive impact of federal government projects in the state.
"For President Bola Tinubu in Enugu, he is going to win. When you come here and see what the APC government is doing, you will be impressed," he said.
He noted that many of the projects are not merely proposals but are already at various stages of completion, showcasing the administration's commitment to development.
Fuel Subsidy Removal Boosting State Development
The APC lawmaker-elect also argued that increased revenue inflows to states following the removal of fuel subsidies have enabled governments to undertake more developmental projects.
According to him, sectors such as healthcare, education, and road infrastructure are experiencing significant improvements due to enhanced funding.
Senator-Elect Promises Infrastructure, Education, Healthcare, and Youth Empowerment
Looking ahead to his inauguration, Asogwa pledged to focus on key areas that directly affect the lives of his constituents.
He promised to champion:
- Infrastructure development
- Improved education systems
- Enhanced healthcare services
- Youth empowerment programs
- Economic opportunities for young people
"We are going to get things done, starting from infrastructural development, improving the education and health sectors, and then empowerment, especially for the youth," he assured.
INEC Presents Certificates to Other By-Election Winners
INEC also presented Certificates of Return to winners of the by-elections conducted in Rivers, Nasarawa, and Kano States on June 20.
Representing the INEC Chairman at the ceremony, Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State, May Agbamuche-Mbu, congratulated the winners and urged them to justify the confidence placed in them by their constituents through effective representation and service delivery.
2027 Elections: APC Eyes Major Breakthrough in Enugu
