IDF Reservist Killed, Seven Injured in Hezbollah Bomb Attack Along Lebanon’s Litani River

A deadly explosion in southern Lebanon has claimed the life of an Israeli reservist soldier and left seven others wounded, including senior military officers, according to the Israeli military.
The fallen soldier was identified as Alexander Filin, 29, a Master Sergeant in the reserves and a combat soldier attached to the 36th Division’s headquarters. Filin, who was from the city of Haifa, was killed when an explosive device detonated near the Litani River on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. while the deputy commander of the 36th Division, his command team, and several soldiers were moving through the area. The blast injured the deputy division commander, a battalion commander from the 556th Transport Regiment, and another reservist, all of whom sustained moderate injuries.

Four additional personnel—including a combat soldier, two combat reservists, and a servicewoman—suffered light injuries and were transported to hospitals for treatment. The military said their families have been notified.

An initial investigation by the IDF indicates that the explosion was caused by a Hezbollah-planted explosive device, though further inquiries are ongoing.

In response to the attack, Israeli forces reportedly launched artillery strikes targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in the surrounding area, raising concerns about renewed tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border.

The incident highlights the continuing security challenges in the region despite ongoing military operations and heightened border vigilance.
