Ireland Deports 42 South Africans in Latest Immigration Operation
Ireland has deported 42 South African nationals as part of an ongoing immigration enforcement operation targeting individuals without legal permission to remain in the country.
The group, which consisted of nine men, 18 women, and 15 children traveling as family units, departed Dublin on a specially chartered flight and arrived in Johannesburg earlier today.
According to Irish authorities, the deportation followed routine immigration checks and enforcement procedures. Officials confirmed that two individuals among those removed had previously been convicted of criminal offences while in Ireland.
The Department of Justice stated that this latest removal marks the fourth deportation charter flight carried out this year. In total, about 130 individuals have been deported from Ireland in 2026 so far “on grounds of criminality,” as part of broader efforts to uphold immigration laws and public safety standards.
Authorities emphasized that deportation decisions are made following legal processes, including assessments of residency status and, where applicable, criminal records. They also noted that family units are sometimes included when all members are subject to removal orders.
The operation reflects Ireland’s continued tightening of immigration enforcement, with officials saying similar actions will proceed where individuals are found to be in breach of immigration rules.
The South African government has not yet issued an official statement on the latest deportations.
