Lagos Police Intensify Security Around Pan-Atlantic University After Viral Video Sparks Concerns

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, has carried out an on-the-spot security assessment at Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, following the circulation of a viral video showing two masked individuals emerging from a forested area near the institution.
Leading a team of operational officers to the university, the Police Commissioner met with the institution’s management and stressed the importance of strengthening security measures to prevent potential threats. He encouraged the university to adopt practical strategies that would enhance safety and protect students, staff, and visitors.

CP Fatai also cautioned against actions that could inadvertently weaken existing security structures, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility in maintaining a secure environment.

In response to the situation, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), with support from the Lagos State Government, has deployed surveillance drones to the area. The initiative is designed to boost aerial monitoring, improve intelligence gathering, and support crime prevention efforts within and around the university community.

Reassuring parents, students, and staff, the Commissioner reiterated the Lagos State Police Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He urged the university to enhance perimeter fencing, strengthen access control systems, and maintain close cooperation with security agencies.

The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its determination to preserve peace and public safety across the state, while encouraging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency lines.
