One Donation, Many Lives: Nonye Soludo Calls for a Culture of Blood Giving in Anambra

As the world marks World Blood Donor Day, the wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has appealed to residents of the state to embrace regular blood donation as a vital way of saving lives and strengthening healthcare services.
In her commemorative message, Mrs. Soludo praised the generosity of voluntary blood donors whose contributions provide critical support to patients facing medical emergencies, mothers during childbirth, accident victims, and individuals battling serious health conditions.

She described blood donation as one of the most impactful acts of kindness and humanity, emphasizing that every unit of donated blood offers hope and a second chance to those in need.

According to her, maintaining a safe and adequate blood supply depends largely on healthy individuals who are willing to donate regularly. She noted that voluntary blood donors remain unsung heroes whose selfless actions continue to make a meaningful difference in communities across Anambra State.

Mrs. Soludo encouraged all eligible residents to become regular donors, stressing that a single donation has the potential to save multiple lives. She added that collective participation in blood donation would help foster a stronger culture of compassion, solidarity, and shared responsibility among citizens.

The First Lady reaffirmed the importance of voluntary blood donation in ensuring that hospitals and healthcare facilities have access to life-saving blood supplies whenever emergencies arise.

This year’s World Blood Donor Day is being observed under the theme: “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.”
