Tinubu Should Resign Over Rising Insecurity, Atiku’s Spokesman Paul Ibe Declares

Abuja, Nigeria – Media Adviser and spokesperson to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign, citing what he described as the administration’s failure to effectively tackle Nigeria’s worsening insecurity crisis.
Speaking during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Tuesday, Ibe argued that the Tinubu-led government has fallen short of its constitutional responsibility to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

According to him, insecurity across the country has continued to escalate despite government assurances, leaving citizens increasingly vulnerable to kidnappings, banditry, and violent attacks.

Nigeria Less Secure Than in 2023 – Paul Ibe

Ibe questioned the government’s security record, insisting that Nigeria is currently less secure than it was before Tinubu assumed office.

He cited alarming figures showing that 879 Nigerians have reportedly been killed, while nearly 300 others remain in captivity, describing the statistics as evidence of a deepening security crisis.

“The primary responsibility of any government is the security and welfare of its citizens. Are Nigerians more secure today than they were in 2023? The answer is clearly no,” Ibe said.

He maintained that the figures reflect the widespread insecurity affecting several parts of the country and demonstrate the urgent need for stronger leadership and decisive action.

‘Government Efforts Not Good Enough’

The ADC spokesperson further criticized the federal government's approach to combating insecurity, stating that the current efforts have not produced the expected results.

According to him, Nigerians deserve a government capable of delivering effective solutions rather than what he described as a "trial-and-error" method of governance.

“The government’s efforts are not good enough. We cannot continue on this journey of trial and error while lives are being lost daily,” he stated.

Ibe Accuses Tinubu of Incompetence

In his strongest remarks, Ibe accused President Tinubu of lacking the competence needed to address the country's numerous challenges, particularly security.

“The truth of the matter is that Tinubu is incompetent and clueless,” he said, reiterating his call for the President to step aside.

Growing Debate Over Nigeria’s Security Challenges

The comments come amid growing public concern over rising cases of kidnappings, armed attacks, and violent crimes across several states.

Security remains one of the major issues dominating national discourse, with opposition figures and civil society groups continuing to demand more effective measures from the federal government.

As political tensions begin to build ahead of future elections, the issue of insecurity is expected to remain a key talking point among political parties and stakeholders across Nigeria.
