Eyewitnesses described the scene as frightening, saying workers and residents watched helplessly as the flames intensified before emergency responders reached the location.

Firefighters Prevent Greater Disaster
Confirming the incident, Chukwudi Chiketa, Head of Media and Publicity of the Anambra State Fire Service, said the agency received a distress call at 4:12 p.m. and immediately mobilised firefighters to the scene.
The fire crew arrived at 4:40 p.m. and launched an aggressive firefighting operation that successfully brought the blaze under control before it could spread to nearby buildings and businesses.
The operation was completed at 6:50 p.m., preventing what could have become one of the state's worst industrial fire disasters.
Fire Service Reveals Cause of the Blaze
Speaking on the incident, Chiketa confirmed that preliminary investigations traced the cause of the fire to a faulty factory machine.
He praised the professionalism and courage of the firefighters, whose quick intervention significantly reduced the extent of the damage.
Most importantly, no casualties were recorded, despite the severity of the incident.
Authorities Issue Urgent Fire Safety Warning
Following the incident, the Anambra State Fire Service urged factory owners, manufacturers, and business operators to regularly inspect and maintain industrial machinery, electrical installations, and fire protection systems.
The agency also advised companies to install functional firefighting equipment, conduct routine safety drills, and ensure workers are properly trained to respond to emergencies.
A Wake-Up Call for Nigerian Industries
