A heartbreaking tragedy has claimed the life of Nnani Adaobi Marian, a 23-year-old Nigerian final-year medical student at Kharkiv National Medical University, who died after suffering severe injuries in a Russian airstrike just days before she was due to graduate as a medical doctor.
According to Ukrainian commentator Kateryna Bohuslavska, popularly known as "Kate from Kharkiv," Adaobi was critically injured during a Russian aerial bomb attack on the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv on June 29, 2026.

She was reportedly on her way to a graduation photoshoot with her close friend, Fatima Huseynova, when the attack occurred. The photoshoot was scheduled just one day before they were set to receive their medical degrees.

Sadly, Fatima Huseynova died at the scene, while Adaobi was rushed to a hospital in Kharkiv before being transferred to Germany for specialized medical treatment. Despite the efforts of doctors, she succumbed to her injuries on July 5, 2026.
