Trump Seeks Supreme Court Rehearing on Birthright Citizenship Ruling, Calls Decision "Absolutely Insane"

Former President Donald Trump has announced plans to ask the U.S. Supreme Court to reconsider its recent birthright citizenship ruling, describing the decision as "absolutely insane" in a Truth Social post published yesterday.
The Supreme Court's 6-3 decision, authored by Chief Justice John Roberts, reaffirmed that children born on U.S. soil to parents who are either unlawfully present or temporarily residing in the United States are U.S. citizens at birth under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.

Despite the ruling, Trump said he intends to pursue a petition for rehearing, a legal process that allows the losing party to request the Court to revisit its decision. Under Supreme Court rules, such a petition must be filed within 25 days of the judgment, and a majority of the justices must vote in favor of rehearing the case before it can move forward.

The landmark ruling has reignited the national debate over immigration, constitutional law, and the future of birthright citizenship in the United States. Legal experts note that rehearing requests are rarely granted, making Trump's effort a significant legal and political development to watch.

As the controversy continues, the case is expected to remain a major issue in the national conversation leading into future political and legal battles over immigration policy.
