Description: CENTCOM confirms two U.S. service members were killed and one is missing after an Iranian missile and drone attack in Jordan. Read the latest developments and military updates.
TAMPA, Fla. — The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that two American service members were killed in action and one remains missing after U.S. and partner forces came under a large-scale Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack in Jordan on July 17.
According to an official CENTCOM statement, U.S. and allied forces successfully defended against the coordinated assault. Despite intercepting many of the incoming threats, the attack resulted in the deaths of two U.S. military personnel while search efforts continue for the missing service member.
CENTCOM also confirmed that four American service members were medically evacuated to hospitals in Jordan following the attack. Military officials said all four have since been treated and discharged, while other personnel evaluated for minor injuries have already returned to active duty.
Out of respect for the families of the fallen, CENTCOM said it will withhold the identities of those killed until at least 24 hours after their next of kin have been notified.
The attack marks another significant escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States, raising fresh concerns about regional security and the potential for a wider conflict across the Middle East. Military officials say operations remain ongoing as they continue to monitor the evolving situation and support partner forces in the region.
