Recent Attacks Spark Urgent Action

In late April, two Jewish men were stabbed in London's predominantly Jewish Golders Green district in what police classified as a terrorist attack.

Authorities also investigated multiple arson and attempted arson attacks targeting synagogues and other Jewish sites during the spring.

In October 2025, a deadly attack on a synagogue in Manchester claimed the lives of two people, intensifying calls for stronger security measures nationwide.

Police Warn of Growing Threat

Deputy Commissioner Matt Jukes of the London Metropolitan Police said Jewish communities are facing an unprecedented level of risk.

To strengthen national security, the government has allocated £59 million specifically to Britain's counter-terrorism police to improve intelligence, security operations, and responses to state-backed threats.

In May, the Metropolitan Police also established a dedicated unit focused on protecting Jewish communities after a surge in antisemitic hate crimes.
