The development comes after the United States imposed partial visa restrictions on Nigerian citizens in June, citing concerns over identity management, information sharing, visa overstay rates, and security screening.

U.S. officials say deportation operations have also expanded beyond Latin America to include countries across Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean.

Although the DHS has released the names and photographs of the 124 Nigerians, officials have not publicly provided individual case details or criminal charges for each person.
