Snake Bite

SNAKE BITE

The main goal is to rush the person to the nearest hospital as quickly as possible but pending when you will achieve this, below are what to do and not what to do at home:

SIX THINGS YOU CAN DO AT HOME:

1. Note the time the bite occurs

2. Keep calm and still as movement can cause the venom to travel more quickly through the body and kill you faster.  So don't panic . Be calm

3. Remove any tight  clothing or jewelry like ring and wrist watch, ankle bracelet , belt etc because the area surrounding the bite will likely swell.

4. Don’t allow the victim to walk. The victim must be carried or transported by vehicle.

5. Do not waste your time trying to kill or handle the snake. Just take a picture of the snake if you can because each snake has its own different anti-venom. This will help the doctor to know the best antivenom to give which can be lifesaving.

6. Lie down on the floor and make sure you don't raise the area of the snake bite up. It will make the venom get to your heart quickly and kill you

SIX THINGS YOU MUST NOT DO AT HOME

1. Do not use anything to tie the area the bite occurs. This does not prevent the spread of the venom

2. Do not cut the area of the snake bite.

3. Do not use place  ice block on the bite area.

4. Do not give the person any medications unless directed by a doctor.

5. Do not raise the area of the bite above the victim’s head.

6. Do not attempt to suck the venom out by your mouth or any device
