Google Maps Adds AI-Powered Transit Predictions, Cycling Insights, and Eco-Friendly Routing Across Europe

Google Maps is rolling out new AI-driven features across Europe to improve travel efficiency and sustainability. In cities like Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Warsaw, Maps will now predict when walking or public transit will get you to your destination as quickly as driving. Meanwhile, users in Hamburg, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Rome, Zurich, Budapest, Vienna, and Brussels can view cycling-friendly routes, including dedicated bike lanes, steep hills, and high-traffic areas.
A global update to fuel-efficient driving routes is also live, helping drivers save fuel and reduce emissions. Additionally, Google will soon show over 1,000 low-emission and low-traffic zones in European cities—helping drivers know where their vehicles are allowed and offering alternate routes when needed.
Lastly, Google is using AI and real-world traffic data to help cities improve their traffic light patterns, with Vilnius, Lithuania being the latest to benefit from these smarter, greener updates.
