Huawei Pura 80 Ultra Launches with Revolutionary Dual-Lens Periscope Camera, 16EV Dynamic Range, and 100W Charging
Huawei Pura 80 Ultra debuts with a dual-lens periscope telephoto sensor, 16EV dynamic range main camera, 100W wired + 80W wireless charging, and HarmonyOS 5.1. Here's everything you need to know.
Huawei’s Pura series has long been the testing ground for its most advanced camera innovations, and the new Huawei Pura 80 Ultra is its most impressive release yet. The smartphone introduces a groundbreaking dual-lens periscope telephoto system with a massive 1/1.28-inch 50MP sensor, featuring sensor-shift optical image stabilization (OIS) and an intricate moving mechanism.
The camera hardware allows users to switch seamlessly between 3.7x and 9.4x optical zoom, offering equivalent focal lengths of 83mm (f/2.4) and 212mm (f/3.6), respectively. Combined with OIS, this setup ensures sharp long-range photos with excellent stability.
At the heart of the device is a 50MP main camera equipped with a 1-inch RYYB sensor, offering a variable aperture (f/1.6 to f/4.0) and a record-breaking 16EV dynamic range—a significant leap that Huawei claims is 15x greater than its predecessor, the Pura 70 Ultra. This should significantly improve detail in both shadows and highlights, making it one of the most capable smartphone cameras ever.
The camera system is completed by a 40MP ultrawide lens (13mm) and a 1.5MP multi-spectral color sensor for better color accuracy. Huawei has also introduced new video styles such as Nature, Film, Movie, and Cartoon, and real-time fusion technology that enhances highlight retention in videos.
Beyond the camera, the Pura 80 Ultra features a 6.8-inch quad-curved LTPO OLED display, offering FHD+ resolution, 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and up to 3,000 nits of peak local brightness. It's protected by 2nd-gen Kunlun Glass and has IP68/IP69 certification for dust and water resistance.
Under the hood, it runs HarmonyOS 5.1, packs 16GB of RAM, and comes in 512GB or 1TB storage options. While the chipset remains unspecified, teardown videos are expected to reveal more soon.
Battery life is equally impressive with a 5,700mAh battery, supporting 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, setting a high bar for flagship smartphones in 2025.
Available in Black and Gold, the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra is priced at:
CNY 9,999 (~$1,391) for the 16GB/512GB version
CNY 10,999 (~$1,530) for the 16GB/1TB version
Pre-orders are now live in China, with deliveries scheduled to begin on June 26.
