iOS 26 Divides Apple Fans: New Features Applauded, But Liquid Glass UI Sparks Debate

Apple's upcoming iOS 26 update is sparking mixed reactions. While it introduces a handful of new features, it's also part of Apple’s larger strategy to unify the user experience across iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Currently available only as a developer beta, an open beta is expected in the coming weeks, with the stable release likely arriving alongside the iPhone 17 series.

In a recent poll, around half of respondents expressed optimism about iOS 26, primarily due to its new features. However, the new Liquid Glass design language is drawing mixed feedback.

While some users appreciate the premium visual effects and customization flexibility, others argue it’s just a fancy skin with increased power consumption and higher thermal output. Accessibility concerns remain, although iOS 26 does include a toggle to reduce UI transparency, improving legibility for some users.

A portion of the Apple community, including some long-time fans, feel that the new UI direction is misguided. There's also a sizable group of users not impressed by either the features or the redesign—though some of that may stem from general anti-Apple sentiment.

Still, iOS 26 is not final. Apple has until Q4 2025 to adjust and polish the experience before public rollout, and future updates will likely refine the design even further.
