iPhone 16 Pro Tops Europe’s Q1 2025 Smartphone Sales as Apple and Samsung Dominate the Charts
Apple and Samsung have once again solidified their dominance in the European smartphone market during Q1 2025, mirroring global shipment trends. According to Counterpoint Research’s latest report, the two tech giants accounted for the entire top ten list, each securing five spots.
Apple claimed the top three positions, thanks to the strong performance of its latest iPhone 16 series. The iPhone 16 Pro emerged as the region’s best-selling smartphone, capturing 6% of total sales. It was followed closely by the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the iPhone 16, both securing 5% share each.
On the Samsung front, the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 ranked fourth and fifth respectively, with 3% market share each. Samsung’s 2024 flagship, the Galaxy S24, still managed to stay relevant with 2% of the market, closely followed by the mid-range Galaxy A55 and the budget-friendly Galaxy A16 5G, each contributing another 2%.
A notable debut this quarter was the iPhone 16e, which made it into the top ten during its first full month of availability after its February launch. However, its initial sales are trailing behind older budget models like the iPhone SE (2020) and SE (2022)—likely due to its higher starting price of €699, compared to €519 for the SE 2022 and €479 for the SE 2020.
Interestingly, Apple's previous-gen iPhone 15 continues to perform well, rounding out the list as the tenth best-selling phone in Europe for Q1 2025.
