Samsung Galaxy Watch8 Classic Leak Confirms Squircle Design and Key Features Ahead of Launch
The rumors were true – the Samsung Galaxy Watch8 Classic is getting a major design refresh, embracing the "squircle" shape similar to the upcoming Galaxy Watch Ultra. A prototype of the device has surfaced on eBay, confirming much of what was speculated.
Galaxy Watch8 Classic Prototype Spotted
A leaked unit, labeled as model SM-L505U, is reportedly a 46mm LTE variant of the Galaxy Watch8 Classic, boasting 64GB of storage. The prototype identifies itself as "OZXT" (or possibly "0ZXT"), and it comes with what appears to be a premium leather strap in the box, likely color-matched with the watch variant.
Also included is a USB-C magnetic charging adapter, signaling a minor but welcome upgrade in accessory standards.
Familiar Features, Modern Upgrades
Samsung is bringing back the rotating bezel – a fan-favorite last seen in the Galaxy Watch6 Classic (2023). New this time is an extra button (a crown), although early impressions suggest it’s non-rotating, just like on the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
One standout visual change is the prominent speaker grille on the left side, again mirroring the Watch Ultra’s aesthetic.
Internals and Expected Launch
Powering the Galaxy Watch8 series will likely be the Exynos W1000, the same chipset used in the previous generation, though this time backed by larger battery capacities for improved longevity.
The official debut is expected at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in mid-July, alongside the new Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 – although Samsung hasn’t sent out invites just yet.
