Foldable Smartphone Market in Europe Grows 4% in Q1 2025 as Competition Heats Up

The foldable smartphone market in Europe grew by 4% year-on-year in Q1 2025, according to a new report from Counterpoint Research. Foldable phones now make up 1.5% of total smartphone sales in the region, indicating that while the segment is maturing, it still remains a niche category.
Despite leading the foldable market with a 41% share, Samsung saw a 15 percentage point drop compared to the same quarter last year. The decline is attributed to rising competition from brands aggressively expanding their foldable lineups.
Motorola made major strides by overtaking Honor to claim the second position in the market with a 15% share, driven largely by the popularity of the Razr 50. Honor followed closely with 13%, while Google climbed the ranks with an 8% market share, powered by strong sales of its Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Tecno experienced the highest growth rate in the segment, thanks to strong demand for its Phantom V Fold 2, offering a more budget-friendly alternative in the book-style foldable category.
Xiaomi and Oppo rounded out the top players with 8% and 4% market shares respectively.

Counterpoint anticipates intensified competition in the coming months, fueled by price drops and expanded product offerings across the foldable smartphone space.
