Smartphones Now Drive 64% of Global Web Traffic in 2025, Setting New Record

Smartphones Dominate Global Web Traffic in 2025, Now Account for 64% of Total Usage

Smartphones are officially the primary gateway to the internet, accounting for 64% of global web traffic according to a newly released report. While this isn’t a huge surprise given the ubiquity of smartphones, it’s now backed by hard numbers — and it marks a new all-time high for mobile traffic share.
The shift from desktops and laptops to smartphones has been a consistent digital trend since mid-2023, with eight consecutive quarters of growth in mobile web usage. The previous record stood at 62.71%, set just last quarter, emphasizing how mobile is continuing to dominate how people access the web.
From a regional perspective, Asia leads globally with 71.3% of web traffic coming from smartphones. In contrast, Europe and the Americas hover around 50%, making Asia the key driver behind mobile’s worldwide dominance.
Looking at operating systems, Android leads the charge with 72.72% of global mobile web traffic, thanks to its dominant market share in smartphone sales. iOS follows with 26.92%, reflecting its strong performance in premium markets.

With mobile-first design and optimization more important than ever, this trend underscores the need for businesses and content creators to prioritize mobile experiences in 2025 and beyond.
