Samsung’s First Tri-Fold Smartphone Surfaces in 3C Certification with 25W Charging – Global Launch Expected Soon
Samsung’s long-rumored tri-fold smartphone is one step closer to launch. The device has now appeared in China’s 3C certification database, revealing a few key details—including support for 25W wired charging.
While it's still unclear if this tri-fold device will be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 at Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked event in New York this July, the certification hints that an official announcement could be imminent.
The device carries the model number SM-F9680, with the "0" indicating it’s destined for the Chinese market. Globally, it’s expected to be listed as SM-F968x, where the last letter will vary based on the region. This model number has been consistently linked to Samsung’s tri-fold prototype in earlier leaks.
The certification also confirms what’s now standard for Samsung flagships: no charger included in the box. Based on past leaks, the tri-fold phone is expected to feature a massive 9.96-inch folding display, a 6.54-inch cover screen, and weigh around 298g. Its launch, however, might be limited to select markets initially.
With this new form factor, Samsung looks set to redefine foldables yet again—this time with a device that folds in three segments, much like Huawei’s Mate X-style devices.
