Tesla Launches Windshield Protection Plan: Monthly Subscription Covers Replacements and Repairs

Few things disrupt a highway drive like the sudden crack of a rock hitting your windshield — and for Tesla owners, that can lead to replacement bills over $1,000. To ease this burden, Tesla has quietly rolled out a new Windshield Protection Plan, a monthly subscription service that covers one full windshield replacement per year and unlimited minor repairs.
This plan functions like specialized glass insurance, separate from Tesla’s Extended Service Agreement (ESA). It’s designed to protect one of the most vulnerable and expensive parts of your EV — the windshield, which also houses sensitive Autopilot calibration cameras.

Key Features:

1 free windshield replacement per year, no deductible

Unlimited chip and minor crack repairs

$100 co-pay for any additional replacements within the same year

Coverage includes OEM glass and camera recalibration

Monthly Pricing (U.S. only for now):

Model 3 / Model Y: $12

Model S: $15

Model X: $23
Enrollment is only available within 30 days of vehicle delivery (new or used) via the Tesla mobile app under Upgrades > Service Plans. Missed the window? You can still qualify if:

You recently paid out-of-pocket for a Tesla windshield replacement, or

You pass an official Tesla inspection (program launching July 2025)
Noticeably absent: The Cybertruck. Despite its huge panoramic windshield and high replacement cost (reportedly $2,300+), it’s not yet eligible for the plan. Tesla says Canada and Mexico will get access to the program soon.
