XPeng and Huawei Unveil Next-Gen AR-HUD for G7 SUV – A Giant Leap in Smart Driving
Chinese EV maker XPeng, in collaboration with Huawei, has introduced a revolutionary AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Heads-Up Display) system, set to debut in the upcoming XPeng G7 SUV. This cutting-edge tech blends artificial intelligence with augmented reality to project critical driving information directly onto the windshield — essentially creating the effect of an 87-inch transparent screen in your line of sight.
Unlike traditional HUDs, this AR-HUD enhances road safety by overlaying speed, navigation, and smart driving system data right where drivers are already looking. With brightness up to 12,000 nits and a 1,800:1 contrast ratio, visibility remains sharp in both daylight and darkness.
XPeng’s AI handles “what to show and when,” analyzing real-time road conditions to deliver tailored visual cues — including navigation instructions that appear integrated into the actual road. In challenging weather like fog or heavy rain, the system highlights lanes, identifies other vehicles, and offers warnings if the car is approaching turns too quickly.
Huawei focuses on the visual tech, while XPeng’s AI ensures the system operates smartly and responsively — a partnership signaling the future of smart electric vehicles (EVs). As cars become more autonomous and intelligent, AI-powered AR interfaces like this could redefine how we interact with vehicles.
