XPeng G7 Unveiled with In-House Turing AI Chip, Targets Global EV Market with L3-Level Power
In a bold move to cement its place as a leader in the electric vehicle industry, Chinese automaker XPeng has officially launched its latest mid-size electric SUV—the XPeng G7. What sets this EV apart isn’t just its sleek design or competitive pricing, but its cutting-edge Turing AI chip, developed entirely in-house.
While the standard "Max" trim comes equipped with two Nvidia Orin-X chips, it's the flagship G7 Ultra variant that's making headlines. This model features three XPeng-designed Turing AI chips, delivering an astonishing 2,200 TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second). To put that in perspective, Nvidia’s latest Thor SoC offers 1,000 TOPS. This leap gives XPeng the confidence to label the G7 as the world's first AI vehicle with L3-level computing power.
These custom chips will power both the autonomous driving system and intelligent cabin experience, supported by XPeng's innovative VLM (Vision-Language Models). This AI mimics human-like perception, allowing the car to better interpret its surroundings and make smarter driving decisions.
Beyond its AI credentials, the G7 delivers serious value as a performance EV. With dimensions of 4,892 mm (L) x 1,925 mm (W) x 1,655 mm (H) and a 2,890 mm wheelbase, it offers generous interior space. Priced from RMB 235,800 (approx. €29,600), the G7 is positioned between the budget-friendly G6 and the flagship G9 models.
Built on an 800V high-voltage platform, the G7 supports 5C ultra-fast charging, reducing downtime and enhancing convenience. Both the Max and Ultra variants boast an impressive 702 km CLTC-rated range on a single charge.
Also featured is an advanced Head-Up Display (HUD) co-developed with Huawei, projecting an 87-inch virtual screen that keeps critical data like speed, navigation, and ADAS alerts within the driver’s direct line of sight.
This launch underscores XPeng’s accelerating growth. With over 30,000 units delivered monthly for seven consecutive months and 162,578 vehicles delivered in the first five months of 2025, the company has seen a 293% YoY growth—proving it's not just building cars, but building momentum.
