Cenntro Avantier Commuter: A Compact Electric Car Built for Urban Europe

Cenntro, best known for its electric workhorses like the Metro and Logistar series, is turning its attention to city living with the new Avantier Commuter. This five-door, four-seat electric vehicle is purpose-built for tight European streets and short-distance daily commutes, marking a bold step into the personal urban mobility space.
The Avantier Commuter boasts EU M1 type approval, meaning it qualifies as a standard passenger vehicle and can be legally sold across all EU countries and others adhering to EU vehicle standards. This classification puts it ahead of its Avantier siblings—the Avantier C and Avantier EX—which are classified as L7e heavy quadricycles with more usage restrictions.
Under the hood, the Avantier Commuter features a 50 kW electric motor (67 hp) with 125 Nm of torque, delivering a top speed of 100 km/h. With a lightweight design (just 1,030 kg), it’s optimized for city agility rather than highway performance.

Measuring 3,720 mm long, 1,640 mm wide, and 1,505 mm tall, it's a bit longer than the Fiat 500e—ideal for tight parking spots without sacrificing cabin space. The vehicle’s 31.15 kWh Lithium NCM battery provides up to 320 km of range (WLTP) on a single charge. Fast charging (30%–80%) takes just 40 minutes via CCS2, while a standard AC charge takes around nine hours.
Inside, the Commuter is surprisingly well-equipped for an entry-level EV:

10.1-inch touchscreen for climate, media, and settings

Bluetooth, multi-function steering wheel, electric windows

Rotary gear selector, rear parking sensors, reverse camera, hill assist
The elevated seating and smart use of interior space offer excellent visibility and comfort for daily driving. Since a soft launch earlier this year, 66 units have been delivered across Europe, targeting young, urban drivers looking for affordable and efficient electric alternatives. Pricing starts around €14,900 (after incentives), depending on the region.
