Xiaomi Ramps Up Hiring as YU7 EV Orders Soar Past 300K

Fresh off the launch of its second electric vehicle, the Xiaomi YU7, the company is now urgently hiring new factory workers to scale up production. With orders reportedly reaching 280,800 to 315,900 units within the first 72 hours, Xiaomi is facing its biggest EV production challenge yet.
The company’s primary EV plant near Beijing is nearing the end of its phase two expansion, and recruitment is already underway. According to Xiaomi’s HR team, the hiring spree includes general workers, operators, and truck drivers, targeting individuals aged 18 to 38. The job offers a daily wage of RMB 230 (approx. $32) for an 11-hour workday.

Since the debut of the Xiaomi SU7, production has been operating at full capacity. With the addition of the YU7 and an expanding factory, Xiaomi aims to double its monthly output, which already exceeds 20,000 vehicles per month.

This aggressive hiring push reflects Xiaomi’s ambition to become a major player in the EV market, backed by strong consumer demand and rapid infrastructure growth.
