The global smartphone market showed signs of recovery in Q2 2025, recording a modest 1% year-over-year growth in shipments between April and June, according to the latest IDC report. Despite ongoing economic uncertainty—including tariff shifts, currency fluctuations, high inflation, and weak consumer demand in China—the market managed to stay afloat.

Samsung retained its position at the top with 58 million units shipped, capturing 19.7% of the global market. The successful launch of the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 models played a crucial role in driving growth, particularly in price-sensitive markets.

128GB + 8GB RAM – $245.00
Samsung Galaxy A56

Xiaomi ranked third with 42.5 million shipments and a 14.4% share, showing a small 0.6% YoY growth. vivo came in fourth, shipping 27.1 million units (9.2% market share), while Transsion Holdings—maker of Infinix, Tecno, and itel—secured fifth place with 25.1 million units shipped, claiming 8.5% of the market.
🌍 The Road Ahead
Although economic headwinds continue to pose challenges, this slight uptick in Q2 signals a possible rebound in the global smartphone industry. IDC analysts suggest that continued momentum in mid-range devices and emerging markets may drive stronger results in the second half of 2025
