Google Gemini AI Arrives on Galaxy Watch8, Expanding Soon to Older Samsung Smartwatches

Earlier this year, Google promised to bring its powerful Gemini AI assistant to Wear OS devices—and it has officially landed on the new Samsung Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic. But the rollout isn’t stopping there. Gemini AI is now making its way to older Galaxy Watch models, as long as they meet certain requirements.
The Galaxy Watch8 series was the first to debut Gemini AI on Wear OS 4, powered by One UI 8 Watch. Google had confirmed that Gemini would expand to more watches running Wear OS 4 or newer, and it looks like that phase has now begun.

However, there's one important catch: only Samsung smartwatches running One UI 8 Watch can access Gemini AI. According to SamMobile, while the Gemini AI app is available for download on older Galaxy Watches, it does not replace Google Assistant unless the device is updated to One UI 8 Watch.

Fortunately, Samsung is already on top of this, having kicked off its One UI 8 Watch beta for the Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro. That means devices like the Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch7 are likely next in line for the upgrade—and with it, Gemini AI access.

💡 Galaxy Watch8 Series Specs:

Galaxy Watch8: 32GB storage, 2GB RAM – $429.99

Galaxy Watch8 Classic: 64GB storage, 2GB RAM – €529.00

Stay tuned for more updates as Google and Samsung continue to enhance AI features on the wrist.
