Sony Xperia 1 VII Faces Power Issues: Free Replacement Program Announced for Affected Units

Earlier this month, Sony suspended sales of its flagship Xperia 1 VII after users reported serious issues including random reboots, shutdowns, and devices being unable to power on. Following a thorough investigation, Sony has now identified the root cause and is taking corrective action.
According to an official statement from Sony UK, a faulty circuit board caused by a flaw in the manufacturing process is to blame for the problems in a limited batch of Xperia 1 VII units.

> "Our investigation has concluded that the manufacturing process may cause a failure of the circuit board in a small number of Xperia 1 VII smartphones, which could potentially result in power issues.

The manufacturing process was changed immediately to ensure this does not happen again. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers." — Sony UK

📢 Free Replacement Program Starts July 21

Sony has confirmed a free replacement program for all affected Xperia 1 VII users. Customers are encouraged to check their device's IMEI number using a dedicated validation portal. If eligible, they will receive instructions on how to apply for a replacement unit.
Sony also reminds users to back up their data before sending in their devices.

The company has already updated its manufacturing process to prevent this issue from affecting future Xperia 1 VII units.
