Huawei Mate XT2 Rumored with Kirin 9020, Satellite Connectivity & Camera Upgrades: Minor Refresh for World’s First Tri-Fold Phone

Huawei made headlines last year with the launch of the Mate XT, the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, and now the company is reportedly preparing a successor — the Huawei Mate XT2.
According to fresh leaks from China, the Mate XT2 won’t be a major overhaul but will introduce notable refinements to keep Huawei ahead of the curve as Samsung gears up to enter the tri-fold market.

Huawei Mate XT2 Rumored Upgrades:

🔹 Kirin 9020 SoC – A performance bump with Huawei’s latest in-house chipset
🔹 Satellite connectivity – Enhanced communication, even without cellular signal
🔹 New 50MP main camera – Still with variable aperture for better low-light performance
🔹 Upgraded periscope telephoto lens – Expect sharper long-range shots

The display, battery capacity, and most other hardware components will reportedly stay the same as the original Mate XT. The Mate XT2 appears to be a refined iteration, keeping the tri-fold form factor alive and competitive.
The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Edition offers 1TB storage and 16GB RAM, priced at a premium $4,596.91, reinforcing its position as a luxury tech statement.

With Samsung rumored to launch its own tri-fold device soon, the Mate XT2 may be Huawei’s strategic move to hold its ground in this emerging category.
