Mercedes-Benz Q2 2025 Sales Report: EV Surge, Luxury Growth & Strategic Dealer Deliveries

Mercedes-Benz is navigating the complex car market of 2025 with a refined strategy that balances high-end luxury, electrification, and global trade pressures. In its Q2 2025 report, the German automaker announced global sales of 547,100 cars and vans—a 9% year-over-year decline. However, the company attributes the dip to intentional constraints in dealer inventory, especially in the U.S. and China, due to changing international trade tariffs.
Despite this, actual customer demand remains strong in key markets. In the United States, Mercedes-Benz saw a 26% spike in retail sales, while its home market of Germany experienced a 7% increase. These figures suggest robust consumer interest, even as dealership inventory is being carefully managed.
The automaker continues to thrive in the premium segment, with high-margin vehicles like the Maybach, AMG models, and the G-Class accounting for 14.3% of total sales. In the U.S., sales of these top-tier models jumped by 15%, highlighting a growing appetite for luxury performance.

Meanwhile, the electric revolution is gaining serious momentum for Mercedes-Benz. The brand’s EQ lineup is helping drive a major transition, with 40% of its Q2 2025 European sales being electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles. Globally, plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) sales rose by 34%.
Leading the charge is the all-new CLA—a stylish, affordable electric coupe that debuted in Europe. Mercedes considers the CLA the cornerstone of a new wave of EVs, with positive feedback and growing order numbers. The brand is also preparing to launch an all-electric version of its popular GLC SUV in September.

Mercedes-Benz Vans also reported strong results. The division sold 93,400 units in Q2, with a 32% increase in electric van (eVan) sales year-over-year. eVans now represent 7% of the division’s global sales and 10% in Europe. A major milestone was achieved with the largest eVan order in company history—5,000 units headed to Amazon’s delivery fleet.
With strategic inventory control, surging luxury sales, and strong EV momentum, Mercedes-Benz appears well-positioned for a transformative second half of 2025.
