Samsung Confirms Tri-Fold Smartphone Is Coming This Year – Here’s What We Know So Far

Despite expectations, Samsung's highly anticipated tri-fold smartphone was nowhere to be seen at the company’s Unpacked event yesterday. But don’t count it out just yet—Samsung Electronics President TM Roh has now confirmed that the device is still on track for release by the end of 2025.
Tri-Fold Galaxy Device Still in the Works

Roh shared that Samsung is focusing on "perfecting the product and its usability" before launch. Interestingly, the final name for the tri-fold phone hasn't been decided. While rumors point to "Galaxy G Fold," Roh hinted that the branding is still under consideration and will be finalized closer to launch.

What to Expect: Design and Display

According to previous leaks, Samsung's tri-fold will feature an inward-folding design, unlike Huawei’s outward-folding Mate XT. This approach allows for two displays—a main foldable screen and a cover display—giving it a similar layout to current Galaxy Z Fold models but with an extra fold for enhanced versatility. It also means better screen protection when the device is closed.

Pricing: Don’t Expect It to Be Cheap

The tri-fold is expected to carry a premium price tag, even higher than the newly launched Galaxy Z Fold7, which itself saw a price bump over its predecessor. Foldables may have matured, but the dream of affordable pricing is still far off.

Samsung seems committed to pushing boundaries in foldable smartphone technology, and if all goes according to plan, we could see the Galaxy tri-fold phone hit the market before year’s end.
