Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 & Flip7 Set to Break Pre-Order Records in South Korea – Here’s Why Demand is So High
Analysts are closely watching Samsung's pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 in South Korea, and early signs suggest a record-breaking launch. Looking back, the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 set the benchmark in 2023 with 1.02 million pre-orders, but last year’s Fold6 and Flip6 failed to meet that figure.
Now, things are looking up again. In just 14 days since pre-order reservations opened on Samsung.com (June 24) — before the official reveal on July 9 — over 160,000 reservations have been recorded. This surge hints at massive domestic demand for Samsung's latest foldables.
Interestingly, the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE hasn't been highlighted in reports, but its figures may be counted together with the standard Flip7.
But this surge in demand isn’t just about the phones themselves — other factors in South Korea are at play:
SK Telecom, one of Korea’s top carriers, recently suffered a hacking incident, causing many users to consider switching.
Rivals KT and LG U+ are taking advantage, offering competitive deals to draw new customers.
SK Telecom is countering with aggressive discounts on the Z Fold7 and Flip7 to retain market share.
Additionally, the Device Distribution Improvement Act was recently repealed. This law had previously required carriers to disclose all subsidy deals. Without it, carriers are now offering bigger subsidies, making these foldables even more appealing.
Samsung is clearly benefiting from these market dynamics, and if current trends continue, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 could surpass all previous pre-order records in Korea.
